Rewarding and fun best describes the Rescue Diver course. This course will expand your knowledge and experience level: Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

What do I need to start?
You can enroll in the Rescue Diver Course as a certified Open Water Diver and participate in the Rescue Diver knowledge development and rescue training sessions, in confined water while working on your Advanced Open Water Diver certification. You should be 15 years or older (12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver) and have successfully completed a sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months. The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses meet these requirements and are included in the certification.

What will I do?
Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. You'll cover:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • AED and emergency oxygen delivery systems
  • Dive first aid
  • Swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Panicked diver response
  • Underwater problems
  • Missing diver procedures
  • Surfacing the unconscious diver
  • In-water rescue breathing protocols
  • Egress (exits)
  • First aid procedures for pressure related accidents
  • Dive accident scenarios

How long will the course take?
The Emergency First Response course will take four hours after the student has completed the coursework. For the Rescue class, students receive a classroom session prior to attending two pool training sessions. The open water dives are completed in a single day.

What is included in the cost of the course?
One open water dive trip, two classroom and two pool sessions under the tuition and guidance of an Instructor will lead to full certification as a Rescue Diver.

What will I need?
Full dive equipment will be required. This can be purchased with a student’s discount, or rented at a reduced rate for the duration of the class. Additionally, students will be required to carry a suitable whistle and ‘rescue sausage’ for the Open Water dives.

Please call us on
305-532-1445 or
1-888-DIVE-MIAMI
for more information.

How much will this cost?
$315 (or $275 if you are First Aid certified within two years of completing the class). Reservations are required. Classes are paid in full when enrolling.
